The Role:
Here at Survitec, we are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Coordinator to join our team based in Ellesmere Port on a fixed term basis.
As a Purchasing Coordinator, you’ll draw up purchase orders for procurement of materials and services. You will compile information and produce records and reports to support procurement and supplier analysis and decision making.
Work with operations and procurement colleagues to improve quality of specifications, reduce purchasing cost, understand and embed purchasing policy, strategy and processes.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes or cancellation.
2. Collate and analyse data using a range of tools, methods and formats; organise and summarise findings using appropriate software and presenting findings to appropriate standards and formats using a variety of software applications and techniques.
3. Check shipments to ensure orders have been fulfilled accurately and meet specifications; compare supplier quotes and bills to ensure accuracy and approve bills for payment.
4. Use approved supplier lists to compare prices, specifications and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers. Prepare purchase orders and other supplier communications, ensuring all Survitec systems are updated to ensure accurate tracking of spend.
5. Understand and apply Survitec purchasing processes to meet stakeholder needs and business requirements; seek to improve processes in a controlled manner. Build and maintain an understanding of regulation, governance and business best practice affecting purchasing decisions and processes.
6. Identify instances of non-compliance with Survitec’s policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these and escalating issues as appropriate.
7. Build sound working relationships with allocated suppliers, ensuring buying is carried out within key supplier relationship terms. Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries. Resolve queries from internal customers or external suppliers, providing information on processes and related policies, escalating as needed to resolve complex issues.
8. Develop an understanding of overall materials usage patterns, providing information and recommendations to operations and procurement colleagues to increase orders appropriately to meet customer demand.
9. Utilise the central preferred supplier database, ensuring accurate recording of delivery and quality specifications. Compile spend reports accurately, providing operations and commodity managers with accurate and timely overviews of supplier spend and performance.
