Network Engineer
Industry: Defence/National Security
Location: 5 days onsite in Basingstoke
The Opportunity:
For the UK Government, maintaining national security is a relentless, around-the-clock mission.
To support its complex intelligence and military operations, the MoD has partnered with this Firm for over 50 years to empower critical thinking and drive value across its strategic initiatives and technology investments.
The Role:
Working with industry leading Network Installation experts, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the design, delivery and configuration of cutting-edge network solutions for the MoD.
You can expect to be hands-on - diving into technical requirements, running site surveys, updating network designs, and making sure everything's configured to perfection. You’ll troubleshoot, support live rollouts, and own the handover process. Your work isn’t just about the tech, it’s about delivering solutions that matter, making a real difference where it counts.
Essential Requirements:
• Sole British National with DV (Developed Vetting) Clearance.
• Experience in building virtualized datacenters from baseline solutions and documentation.
• Proficient in Service/Incident Management (BMC Remedy).
• Strong network background with Switch/Router/Firewall configuration (CCNA/CCNP preferred).
• Technical expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, PKI, Windows 10, and various Microsoft technologies (SQL, Exchange, SharePoint, Skype, WSUS).
• Experience with VMware technologies (ESX, vCenter, NSX, Horizon, App Volumes).
• Familiarity with KeePass, SolarWinds, Veeam, Trend, and PowerShell scripting.
• Hands-on experience with Thin Clients, Peripherals, and hardware firmware updates (UPS, Servers, SANs, Switches).
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with exposure to Linux, Bulk User Provisioning, Data Migration, and Configuration Management.
• Familiarity with Test and Assurance principles, Low-level Engineering Documentation, and MOD IT systems/security policies.
• Team-oriented with strong communication skills, and a background in Systems/Software Engineering across the solution lifecycle.

• Base Salary: Up to £55,000 (DoE)
