We are seeking a creative and inspiring Tutor who can support prisoners who are working within the prison workshops and other outreach areas with their English and Maths, to increase their skills and, if possible, gain accreditation toward Functional Skills qualifications. Alongside this, you will also support prisoners to build the confidence and skills they can use to apply for employment upon release. As an Outreach Tutor you will also work closely with other prison departments, officers and workshop instructors to promote and support the implementation of the prison’s Reading Strategy as well as to gain the best overall outcomes for our learners. The prison is built on the former grounds of Erlestoke Manor House and has expanded in both offender numbers and intervention programmes. HMP Erlestoke’s focus is firmly fixed on reducing re-offending and preventing future victims of crime by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational based training and education, in a pro social environment. Courses at HMP Erlestoke include Maths, English, IT, Horticulture, Carpentry, Cleaning and Support Services, Hospitality, Creative Craft, Customer Service, Team Leading, Learning Support and much more. The education delivery hours are Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 11.15am, 2.00pm - 4.30pm and on Fridays 8.30am - 11.15am. Erlestoke staff and learners get involved with various projects each year. In 24/25 Erlestoke held an archaeological dig and a two week Arts festival “ Penned Up “ giving learners the opportunity to hear from authors refreshing attitudes ,thinking and developing a focus on reading. Erlestoke issues an internal magazine highlighting various events, projects and support alongside articles, interviews and shared experiences as well as promoting well-being and education.
