Summary of the Role:
Reporting to the Planning Supervisor, the Transport Planner will join a busy team planning bulk bitumen deliveries and reporting to the Planning Supervisor. This role is directly responsible for ensuring that all customers are supplied with bitumen in the safest and most cost-effective manner, while providing excellent customer service.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
* Planning work across multiple locations with multiple drivers in line with the customers expectations in line with WTD and driver hours regulations.
* Delivering exceptional customer service by meeting or exceeding all KPI’s in line with the contractual requirements of the customer.
* Directly supervising the daily activities of all drivers and managing all operational issues and providing all required out-of-hours operational support.
* Responsible for providing plans to the customer in a timely manner based on their relevant orders.
* Controlling the contract on a daily basis, making any changes where possible when needed.
* Setting up daily diaries with the resource, and trucks and trailers.
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. Shifts start times are between the hours of 06:00, 10:00 to 12:00 and Saturday rotation.
Requirements:
Essential: The successful individual will -
* Have appropriate logistics/planning experience.
* Have the ability to work a shift pattern that covers mornings, evenings and weekends.
* Live within a commutable distance
* Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Be proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office - Outlook and Excel.
* Have the ability to interpret data accordingly and to prioritise tasks in line with business needs.
* Be flexible in their working hours, and have the ability to cover shifts when required.
Desirable: The successful individual will:
* Have working knowledge of UK geography.
* Have an understanding of Drivers’ Hours Regulations.
* Be CPC qualified, or hold other transport industry qualifications.
