Job overview
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are looking to appoint a Pharmacy Technician Dispensary Manager who will join the dispensary team at both Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospitals. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician who would like to develop their managerial and leadership skills and achieve their full potential working in a busy acute hospital dispensary setting.
The person appointed will support the Team Leader for Dispensary Services in the implementation of agreed strategy changes and provide direct leadership and support to their team ensuring delivery of change within set time scales.
Technicians interested in this position are required to bring with them motivation, an enthusiasm to promote new ideas, a determination to succeed in a challenging environment, the ability to remain calm under pressure and a commitment to future developments in pharmacy services.
Main duties of the job
1. Assists the Team Leader for dispensary services with the planning, development, monitoring, audit, evaluation, and delivery of the dispensary service across the Trust. Ensure that working practices meet requirements of medicines legislation, professional, local, and national guidelines and implement changes, thereby ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive, high-quality service.
2. Contribute to the strategic plan for dispensary operations including change management projects and adopting new models of working including with EPMA systems.
3. Provide professional leadership and management in all aspects of dispensary services for all staff members who work within the dispensary environment. This includes pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians, trainee pharmacists and support workers.
4. Ensure that appropriate training is provided for all staff working in the dispensary and training records are maintained and available when required.
5. Assist with stock management and financial control of costs within the dispensary service, including maintaining appropriate and efficient staffing levels, and reducing waste through the avoidable expiration of medicine and use of resources.
6. Assist the Team Leader for dispensary services to manage the day to day running of the dispensary service and rotas.
7. Deputise for the Team Leader for dispensary services, providing technical leadership.
