Job overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for a band 5 Radiographer who puts patients at the heart of their practice and wants to develop in busy, friendly departments. If you are enthusiastic and hard working then the Imaging Departments at this busy Teaching Foundation Trust are the place for you.
The main work area is within the Main X-Ray department at Chorley & South Ribble Hospital with occasional requirement to work within main X-Ray at Royal Preston Hospital. You would be working a combination of shifts including long days, nights and weekends in a rotation through all aspects of Plain film including theatres as well as CT and Fluoroscopy.
Imaging has a comprehensive preceptorship programme to assist you when embarking on your new career whilst offering development opportunities in many aspects of imaging for the more experienced radiographer.

Main duties of the job
1. To be a proficient, valuable and reliable member of the Diagnostic Imaging team.
2. To provide high quality radiographic images whilst working on rotation through the main imaging areas of the department and to provide a mobile service to the wards and theatres.
3. The trust has recently invested in a variety of new equipment across all imaging modalities access on site to all Imaging specialties and the opportunity to undertake advanced practice.
4. Radiology provides a 24/7 diagnostic imaging service to the Trust and you would be expected to participate in a system of work which supports this service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties will include but not be limited to:
1. Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation.
2. Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, and supervision of duties carried out by Assistant Practitioners, and more junior staff including students.
3. Ensure a high radiographic standard is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of standards to meet patients’ needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines.
4. Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
5. Assist in setting, monitoring and maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
6. Communicate with patients, relatives, and other healthcare workers to ensure appropriate dissemination of information, in a form and manner consistent with their level of understanding, culture, background and preferred ways of communicating.
7. Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
8. Ensure environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
9. To participate in education and training of junior staff.
10. Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within the scope of role and professional practice.
11. Comply with the requirements of the Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 and IR(ME)R 2018 and related departmental protocols and procedures.
12. Use Information Technology systems as required at every level of the role.

Qualifications & Education
* HPC registered
* DCR/BSc in Radiography
* Attendance at study days
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience in general radiographic and Theatre procedures within NHS.
* Involvement with QA.
* Willing to expand clinical role.
* Awareness of changes within Imaging practice.
* Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice.
* Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
