About the Role
Support the Digital Forensics Group by maintaining flow of exhibits through the unit and completing early analysis of exhibits to determine the best course of action by using comprehensive triage processes. Reporting the results internally and externally.
Key Accountablities include but are not limited to;
1. To Ensure effective processing of exhibits in/out of the exhibits, complete administrative records, organise exhibit storage, carry out back ups and maintain equipment
2. To carry out triage of exhibits submitted in any one case to ensure negative exhibits are eliminated at an early stage and only cases with high evidential potential are further examined
3. To Schedule work in an effective manner and communicate results clearly
4. To keep abreast of changes of technology and forensic developments
5. To provide technical advice to officers.
6. To effectively manage work load to meet deadlines and court set timescales.
7. To give regular and effective service.

High Tech Crime Unit Specific Accountabilities
1. To ensure that exhibits are processed and evidential data is extracted in a timely manner ready for onward examination by Examiners
2. To manage the viewing of evidential data by the officer in the case.
3. To carry out low level examinations and produce detailed reports and evidence.
4. Advise OIC as to the relevance of the evidence in relation to the computer and case as whole.
Phone Examination Unit Specific Accountabilities
1. To manage the effective use of on area screening devices
2.To carry out Audits of on area screening devices
Additional Requirements
Maintain personal responsibility for collection, recording, evaluation, information sharing, review, retention and disposal of information in compliance with codes of practice and Guidance in the Management of Information, information security policy, procedures and legislation.
This role may be made available for students of a relevant subject as a yearlong internship. If it is an Internship role, this will be clear in the vacancy advertisement and circulated via a closed link with the chosen Higher Education Institution. The interns will still need to demonstrate the same competency and value requirements as well as relevant qualifications and experience, although the role will only be available for the industry year as part of their academic studies.
The role holder may be required to visit other locations within Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and therefore needs to have the ability to travel as necessary.
May be asked to carry out fire warden duties to meet required standards if required.

Essential Qualifications
Educated to
QCF Level3 in an IT subject OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.
Essential Experience
This role equates to the role of Junior Digital Examiner used in industry;
IT literacy (entailing experience of the mechanics of software and hardware) with previous experience in an IT or related environment or academic achievements related to role is required.
