About the role RUSI’s Proliferation and Nuclear Policy programme conducts research and convenes dialogue on nuclear, chemical and biological weapons issues. The UK Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI) is a cross-generational network which encourages young scholars and professionals to engage with established experts on contemporary nuclear issues. The project aims to foster the emergence of a next generation of nuclear experts and build a broad knowledge base for the nuclear community, from technical intricacies to international security dynamics. Each year, UK PONI invites emerging experts to present their research and ideas to established members of the UK nuclear community at its Annual Conference and, throughout the year, hosts a series of events and activities across the UK addressing a range of civil and military nuclear issues. UK PONI is looking to recruit a highly motivated project officer to assist with the design of project activities and initiatives, planning and organising of events, as well as provide efficient and varied administrative and organisational support. Key Tasks Assist with the development and implementation of UK PONI project initiatives, events and activities; Provide varied administrative and organisational support, including logistical support ahead of and during meetings and events; Take notes at meetings and conduct and analyse short surveys; Manage the UK PONI X and LinkedIn accounts and grow social media audiences; Support with the development of UK PONI’s quarterly newsletter, FUSION, and the Nuclear Reactions publications; Contribute to UK PONI project forward-planning; Project or programme management; Provide budget support/management, including the creation of draft budget proposals; Events management and general support to the team during events; Provide business development support to the lead and others in the team. Person Specification Essential skills and experience: Skilled in the application of MS Office suites Solid project management experience Ability to manage budget including creating and drafting budget proposals Organisational skills with the ability to coordinate and manage time sensitive tasks Skilled in running and supporting events to high and professional standards Experienced in working to meet varied admin tasks sometimes with high pressure Good working knowledge and application of digital media tools Ability to work with varied stakeholders both within and outside the Institute Advanced communication skills both written and spoken with the ability to analyse data/ report writing. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and ability to present complex information and demonstrating strong literacy skills. Strong organisational skills, ability to plan agendas and facilitate meetings, as well as willingness to complete administrative and organisational tasks. Excellent attention to detail. Strong time management and ability to self-start and to meet rapid, multiple deadlines in a fast-paced team-oriented environment; Demonstrated commitment and/or contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion; Fluent in oral and written English. Desirable Criteria An interest in politics and global affairs, particularly in nuclear issues; Experience in managing social media accounts.
