The Opportunity:
Childlight, a global child safety institute, is looking for a Youth Participation Officer to support the administration, facilitation and delivery of youth participation across Childlight. The role will work closely across Childlight colleagues, to champion youth voice and involvement in Childlight’s research and data insight.
The successful candidate will be passionate about inclusion for young people, and the representation of lived experience. You will be able to quickly build trusting relationships, and be experienced in working in a participatory manner across a variety of methods and techniques [including consultations, focus groups, surveys, and assembly formats]. You will be used to creating safe spaces to ensure that diverse voices are heard, and helping marginalised or vulnerable groups to communicate with decision makers, so that those views are acted on. You will be someone who understands the value of partnership working, has the ability to manage relationships across a wide range of people and organisations, and is passionate about the opportunity for greater impact in preventing child sexual abuse and exploitation by working with young people.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), and fixed term until 30th April 2026.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Practical experience of coordinating and facilitating participation events
Demonstrable knowledge of different facilitation approaches and methods
Experience of working with and advocating for the interests of young people, or a vulnerable, marginalised, minoritised, or under-represented community
Good written and oral communication skills, with experience of tailoring these to different audiences
Experience of building relationships with external organisations, across a variety of sectors
Tact and ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations; a high level of emotional intelligence, and personal resilience
A passion for making the world a better place and preventing CSEA, improving services and safeguarding children
