Escape Recruitment Services are partnering with our client, a successful SME based in West Lothian that has enjoyed progressive growth throughout the years. We are looking to add a talented Assistant Accountant to the existing finance team. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will provide financial support and analysis to the business and stakeholders within a fast-paced commercial environment. You will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the company's future growth plans.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting: Manage weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports, keeping everything on track and transparent.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting: Work alongside departments to create and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.
3. Financial Analysis: Dive deep into financial data to uncover opportunities for cost-saving and revenue enhancement.
4. Compliance: Ensure all financial processes are up to scratch with the latest regulations and standards.
5. System Improvement: Help us continually improve the accuracy and quality of our financial information.
6. Deputise for Finance Director: Provide support and guidance to the wider finance team.
What We're Looking For:
1. Ideally, you will be currently studying towards your ACCA/CIMA or have achieved AAT Level 4 and are looking to start your professional exams.
2. Previous experience in a busy, fast-paced SME environment.
3. Candidates with previous experience in a similar Assistant Accountant, Finance Assistant, Bookkeeper, or Finance Analyst role would be ideal.
4. You will be highly analytical, able to understand and interpret financial data to non-financial staff while identifying and recommending opportunities around cost-saving and increasing profit margins.
5. Strong communication skills, including stakeholder management and working cross-functionally within the business while providing support to the wider finance team.
6. Confident IT skills, including advanced MS Excel skills and ideally previous experience of using either Xero or QuickBooks.
