Make new connections and learn about other cultures by visiting someone from a refugee background to provide friendship, guidance and practical assistance with their settlement.
The Role
The Social Support Program links a family or individual of refugee background with a volunteer who visits them at home on a regular basis - days and times flexible. Volunteers may provide a variety of support, such as:
1. Go on outings or participate in activities together
2. Practice conversational English
3. Assist with orientation and connection to the wider Australian community
4. Explaining Australian social/cultural norms
5. Familiarisation of systems (e.g. public transport, shopping)

Mainly female volunteers needed in Adelaide northern suburbs, e.g. Salisbury, Elizabeth, Pennington.
