Role Overview: The Learning Support Assistant will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to students with a variety of learning needs. The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with additional learning needs, including students with physical disabilities, learning difficulties, and social-emotional needs. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and provide feedback on progress. Collaborate with teachers and specialists to modify and adapt lessons, materials, and activities to meet the diverse needs of students. Monitor students’ progress and provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties. Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment to encourage student independence, confidence, and participation. Provide support during breaks, lunchtime, and extracurricular activities as needed. Assist in managing student behavior and ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive classroom environment. Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide activities. Essential Qualifications and Skills: Previous experience working with children or young people with additional learning needs (desirable but not essential). Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents. Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting students' growth and development. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Adaptability and a proactive approach to meeting the needs of students. A willingness to learn and engage in ongoing professional development. [Relevant certifications or qualifications (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification, SEND training, etc.)] Desirable Skills and Experience: Experience working with students with autism, ADHD, or other special educational needs. Knowledge of specialized tools and technologies that support learning for students with disabilities. First Aid training or willingness to obtain certification. A degree or qualification in education, child development, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
