About the Role
The Department of Physics seeks to appoint several Independent Research Fellowships in our fourth cycle of the Warwick Prize Fellowships within the Astronomy & Astrophysics Group at the University of Warwick. Fellowships are expected to have a duration of 5 years, with an initial appointment of 3 years that is extendable for a further 2 years by mutual agreement.
Fellows will establish their own independent research program that overlaps and supports the research interests of the group. Key research areas at Warwick are exoplanets and discs, white dwarfs, compact binaries and accretion physics, extragalactic transients, stellar populations, gravitational wave astrophysics, and space domain awareness.
Funding for travel and IT equipment is available, as well as access to high performance computing.

Applicants will have less than 5 years of active research experience (i.e. excluding career breaks) since their PhD award at the point of application deadline.
You will have a successful track record in leading astrophysical research projects, be an enthusiastic communicator capable of working effectively independently, and be able to strongly contribute as part of a larger research team. You will possess good planning and time management skills to ensure your research goals are achieved effectively.

About the Department
Astronomy and Astrophysics
The Astronomy and Astrophysics group at Warwick is interested in observational and theoretical astrophysics, encompassing white dwarfs, high energy transient events, exoplanets, protoplanetary disks, stellar populations, and space domain awareness. The group makes extensive use of ground- and space-based telescopes, and we operate our own facilities in Chile, Australia and La Palma. We also regularly use high-performance computing infrastructure for our research.
We support our early career staff in developing their academic profile by providing the opportunity to help supervise PhD and undergraduate research projects, and to take on other responsibilities that will contribute to a positive career progression.
