In this position, you will support the Regional Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to ensure Olympus remains compliant with current and future health & safety legislation. Additionally, you will support our maintenance of our ISO 45001 accreditation and provide advice to colleagues on a wide range of health & safety topics.
Your responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with current and future health & safety legislation by keeping up to date with changing circumstances
* Promote and raise awareness, at all levels of the organisation, of the impact of current and emerging health & safety issues, whether legislative or best practice
* Train staff at all levels in health & safety issues and responsibilities and work with external stakeholder groups on relevant issues
* Advise on all aspects of incident reporting, risk assessment, first aid and fire safety
* Ensure quarterly health & safety reports are complete, accurate and forwarded to Global HQ within agreed timescales
* Achieve ongoing certification to the ISO 45001 occupational health & safety management standard
* Organise and chair Health & Safety Committee meetings and attend Safety Management Review meetings
* Maintain a good working relationship with all service providers to ensure third party controls are dealt with efficiently and in-line with regulatory requirements
* Maintain compliance against health & safety legislation and applicable controls
* Coordination of Incident & Emergency Response provisions, ensuring details pertinent to the investigation are recorded in a timely manner, in compliance with H&S legislation and Data Protection regulations
Qualifications
* You should have a NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent Health & Safety recognised qualification
* Minimum of 3 years' experience working in a Health, Safety & Environmental discipline
* Experience of participating in management system audits for large organisations
* Ability to present information in a structured and balanced way
* Resilient and capable of managing potentially confrontational and/or difficult situations in a professional manner
* Motivated to drive organisational and management system improvement, and capable of questioning and challenging company practices
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
* You should have a level of enthusiasm for HS&E, be willing to learn and take additional challenges
