The Opportunity An exciting opportunity is available for an Environmental Compliance Lead within Safetykleen the UK’s leading provider of Parts Washing, Waste Management and Environmental Advisory services to businesses. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in a similar role within the Waste industry. As our Environmental Compliance Lead, you will be working as part of our HSEQ team and have a key and valued role in providing advice and support within all levels of the business, with lead responsibilities for advising on environmental issues related to Waste Permits and related environmental legislation. This will not only be supporting legal compliance but also to continue our journey of continuous improvement to seek and maintain best practice across our UK and Ireland operations. Whilst you can be located anywhere in the UK it is important to understand travel will be required to truly drive and embed best practice and partner with our teams. Further Insight To communicate with the various Environmental Regulatory Bodies supporting the company’s plans and objectives. Keep abreast of relevant environmental regulations and providing appropriate advice to the business. To prepare and progress facility waste management permit applications for submission to the Environment Agencies. To assist the Head of HSEQ in maintaining the environmental management system. To assist in the support of the Competency Management System and Technical Competence within Safetykleen. To liaise with all areas of company management to ensure that business activities comply with the requirements of relevant environmental permits and regulations. To arrange and conduct internal and external audits, including Duty of Care audits of third-party disposal sites and suppliers. To provide internal and external advice on technical issues arising from the company’s business activities, both products and wastes. To formulate and deliver internal training topics, including Duty of Care, Hazardous Waste Regulations. To oversee packaging data and submission of reports in compliance with the Packaging Regulations. To oversee collection of data for waste transfer stations quarterly and hazardous waste quarterly returns. To provide support to the company branches both with advice on environmental issues and through internal auditing. Keep abreast of relevant environmental regulations and providing appropriate advice to the business. Desired Qualifications and Experience Experience in a similar level role in the waste industry Environmental Advisory experience WAMITAB (or previously held) Competence Management Certification NEBOSH General Certificate Experience in risk assessments and hazard spotting Clean Driving License.
