We are seeking experienced, ambitious and proactive property/construction inspectors/surveyors to join our repairs and maintenance team. These new roles at Livin are designed either for experienced surveyors or for inspectors with a desire to advance their careers as RICS qualified surveyors.
Skills, knowledge and experience in social housing is essential but equally important is that your values and behaviours will clearly align with our own. This means developing relationships of trust and respect, identifying innovative solutions using your professional expertise and working together with partners to provide a brilliant customer service to our tenants
You will make a real and sustained difference to our tenants’ lives by owning and resolving complex repairs cases to ensure homes are safe, comfortable, warm and a place people are proud to live in.
About us
We are an award-winning not for profit housing association that currently owns nearly 9,000 homes across County Durham. We offer more than just a home. We help improve the lives of the people living in our homes and in our places. We work hard to make sure those homes are high quality, sustainable and adaptable, while meeting tenants’ current and future aspirations. We offer support that help people into work and training and increase their financial confidence and stability.
Our Plan A sets out our strategy for a realistic path to success. It's flexible. It can cope with the things we do not yet know. Importantly it’s cohesive, ensuring we are working together with our teams, partners, tenants and residents to maximise the impact we can make by improving lives through the provision of sustainable homes and places.
About the role
At a time when Awaab’s law places much needed focus on prioritising and acting with urgency to meet specific customer needs, as a Repairs and Maintenance Surveyor, you will be assigned an identified geographical patch and ensure performance and quality are achieved linked to our service standards. As we get ready for the launch of the new Decent Homes standard there will be new expectations of our property services team and we will make sure you are trained, supported and equipped to rise to these challenges.
You will take ownership of each case, persevering to tailor solutions until issues are resolved, including checks on completed work and investigating, reporting and actioning works in relation to asset queries that have arisen.
About you
Putting our tenants at the heart of all you do comes naturally. You will have extensive technical experience of complex repairs and maintenance services, the ability to effectively diagnose the extent of property repairs and to issue appropriate work orders in compliance with our policies and procedures. You will monitor the work undertaken by our contractors to check that works are carried out in accordance with specifications, ensuring that a high standard of workmanship is achieved. A can-do attitude, positive attitude and ability to work sensitively and empathetically with our tenants is vital.
You will be confident and competent at using digital customer and asset applications and devices to understand both the home and the household, recognising the critical importance of accurate data quality in providing an outstanding customer experience.
You will have an HNC (or equivalent) in Surveying/Property Management/Construction, and able to coach, mentor and inspire colleagues and apprentices in their own learning and development.
Upon successful completion of your probation period, support and funding will be available to undertake a RICS accredited Degree in Surveying which will provide a springboard for a successful and rewarding career as a professional surveyor.
