The post holder will have personal responsibility to manage the shift when on duty.
The post holder will supervise and participate in the delivery of care and will ensure consistency and continuity in the quality of care.
To organize and deploy staff as necessary within the shift according to competencies and workloads, to meet identified patient needs and priorities and to plan activities accordingly.
To act in accordance with the legal requirements and statutory rules relating to practice and all Trust policies and procedures.
To manage the defined clinical area, developing and using relationships and other health departments/community services/agencies.
To identify learning needs of patients and relatives and staff providing ongoing instruction and assessment.
To advise staff, patients, relatives and members of the public on the promotion of health and prevention of illness.
To undertake and maintain a staff appraisal system and to identify the staff development needs.
To meet learning objectives defined in the clinical area of pre and post basic learners and to be responsible for formal assessments.

Main duties of the job
This position requires a motivated, inspirational, innovative and creative leader who can manage the ongoing developments and delivery of care on a busy treatment ward. We value passionate, resilient, forward thinking staff that have the vision to strengthen & develop the Ward in line with national good practice guidance.
You will need to possess high quality clinical and managerial skills to ensure the maintenance of the current high standards of effective delivery of patient care.
Your managerial skills will need to enable you to take total management responsibility whilst promoting good working relationships and be responsible for the professional development of the staff you are responsible for within the Multidisciplinary Team.

Qualifications
* Relevant Psychological Interventions Training
* Participated in a nurse management/leadership training.
Experience
* Significant band 6 experience
* Experience in interagency/interprofessional working and liaison
* Experience in at least 2 of Acute, Community, Rehabilitation, Addictions Neuropsychiatry or MHSOP.
Skills
* Ability to effectively manage a team and exhibit clinical competency
* SIMA
* Nurture a recovery-focused service
* Ability to line manage a multidisciplinary team
* Experience in clinical supervision
* Teaching Skills
Special Knowledge
* Demonstrate knowledge of service user and carer involvement in services.
