A well-motivated, conscientious person is sought to work in a busy and developing Orthopaedic Outpatient Dept. The post will allow the individual to enhance their existing knowledge in a varied clinical setting. Duties will include:
1. Applying casts (training will be given).
2. Assisting with manipulations.
3. Carrying out various dressings.
4. Dealing with pre and post-op elective and trauma patients.
5. Willingness to undertake the BCC (British Casting Course).
6. Good communication skills are essential.
The Orthopaedic Outpatient Department is constantly evolving with developments and added opportunities. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Responsibilities include:
1. Taking charge of a group of patients/clients with the guidance and supervision of the Nurse in charge, depending on level of experience.
2. Coordinating the work of healthcare support workers, assistant practitioners, students, and preceptorship nurses in the delivery of nursing care.
3. Supervising healthcare support workers, assistant practitioners, students, and preceptorship nurses, participating in their education and development.
4. Maintaining confidentiality with sensitive information.
5. Recording patient’s property ensuring compliance with Health Board Policies and protocols.
6. Participating in service development through unit/department meetings.
7. Awareness of own limitations and escalating issues that may be detrimental to the well-being of patients or colleagues.
