EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
This is a key role within the Strategy and Business Development team at STS. Through market analysis, strategic planning, and data-driven decision-making, this role plays a pivotal part in shaping the strategic direction of the established P&L Businesses in the STS portfolio.
You’ll contribute to the collective success of our existing and new service areas, driving strategic initiatives, business growth, and operational efficiency.
This role requires an exceptional, solution-focused individual with the ability to think critically and strategically, and a strong foundation in financial modelling and statistical analysis.
Key Accountabilities:
Market Research and Competitive Intelligence
* Perform in-depth market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats.
* Identify key growth areas and analyse competitive landscapes to inform strategic direction and decisions.
* Monitor industry developments and provide insights on potential impacts to the business.
* Advise and recommend strategies for identifying and engaging with target markets.
Strategic Planning – Execution and Evaluation
* Facilitate strategy workshops and brainstorming sessions with cross-functional teams to align strategic initiatives and ensure seamless execution.
* Partner with STS P&L businesses to develop business cases for new initiatives, including financial modelling and risk assessment.
* Support the development of realistic plans, accounting for skillsets, time horizons, and risk appetite to enable sustained growth.
* Lead and support the execution of strategic projects, ensuring milestones are met and objectives are achieved.
* Evaluate the success of implemented strategies using key performance indicators and return on investment analysis.
* Engage with target markets and customers to align customer requirements with offered services.
* Perform financial analysis to assess the viability and impact of strategic initiatives.
* Develop financial models to project business performance and assess potential investments.
* Provide insights into financial implications and risks associated with strategic decisions, including partnerships and alliances.
* Collaborate with the finance team to align initiatives with budgetary considerations.
* Utilize analytics to evaluate business performance and identify areas for improvement.
Stakeholder Communication
* Work closely with the P&L Businesses to understand their strategic needs and challenges, acting as a liaison between different departments to ensure alignment and integration of strategic initiatives.
* Support the Head of Strategy and Business Development and senior stakeholders with ad hoc analysis and strategic recommendations.
* Develop clear, concise presentations for different stakeholders to ensure buy-in and connect related opportunities, driving internal collaboration and efficiencies.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
Significant experience in strategic planning, business analysis, or management consulting is required, along with a proven track record of delivering strategic insights and recommendations.
High proficiency in analytical tools and techniques is necessary, along with outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to design and deliver compelling PowerPoint presentations. Proactivity in identifying business opportunities and addressing potential challenges is crucial.
The role requires a collaborative team player who consistently reinforces the direction of travel in STS. Excellent interpersonal skills in teamwork and facilitation are essential, as is curiosity about current businesses and plans to deliver products and services. Financial acumen, including an appreciation of capital investment and operational expenditure, is needed to determine where to invest resources. An understanding of risk to prioritize efforts effectively and strong analytical skills to assess and judge where value lies are also important.
As travel is required, you’ll also need to hold a full U.K driving license.
