My client are experts in sustainable and digital construction, providing top-tier services to clients in both the Public and Private sector.
This Sustainability Manager is a proactive, versatile expert who can address a wide range of sustainability topics with various stakeholders. They will be responsible for ensuring a key project meets its sustainability goals, driving improvements and verification. Critically, they will lead efforts to reduce carbon emissions to Net Zero, minimise waste, and enhance circular economy practices.
Main Responsibilities
* Managing sustainability reporting, improvements, and verification using SmartWaste.
* Spearheading carbon emission reduction and broader resource efficiency initiatives.
* Contributing to the creation of the clients sustainability strategy, policies, and targets.
* Helping the company implement and achieve its sustainability strategy, goals, and targets.
* Providing sustainability expertise for business development and bids.
* Conducting research and development, identifying opportunities, fostering innovation, and promoting best practices to improve efficiency and win new business.
* Building relationships, networking, and representing the company through profile-raising activities.
* Maintain internal relationships with Regional Directors, Project Directors, Project Managers and Design Managers and external relationships with Clients, Subcontractors & Consultants.
Essential Skills for the role:
* The ideal candidate must have a thorough understanding of all carbon emission scopes and be able to explain them clearly to various audiences.
* They will be responsible for ensuring accurate and transparent sustainability data collection and reporting across their project portfolio.
* A demonstrated ability to implement sustainability initiatives is essential.
* Excellent client management and negotiation skills.
Key Experience:
* The successful candidate will possess significant technical knowledge and experience in environmental sustainability within the construction industry.
* They must have a proven track record of achieving strong environmental and sustainability performance on construction projects.
* Crucially, they must be able to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to non-technical audiences.
* A strong analytical mindset and a meticulous approach to sustainability data and project performance are essential.
* A business-oriented perspective is also necessary, with the ability to clearly articulate the value and benefits of sustainability initiatives, compliance, and reporting.
* Finally, they should be skilled negotiators, capable of working with suppliers to maximise efficiencies.
Qualifications and Certifications:
* A relevant degree in Environmental Studies/Sustainability/Geography/ or appropriate qualifications
* Professional membership of the IEMA
* A valid CSCS card
* BREEAM AP is desirable but training will be provided if you do not carry this.
This is a hybrid role and will be home, site and office based (E14)
