Job summary Royal Papworth Hospital is a centre of Excellence in healthcare, and this extends to our purpose build 10 bedded Sleep Laboratory. The successful applicant will require the holder to be a self-sufficient dynamic person who is forward thinking and above all a team player who is able to work within our team to deliver first class standards of health care. Using your experience as specialist sleep healthcare scientist, this role will involve the setup, analysis and scoring of oximetry, sleep diaries, actigraphy, respiratory polygraphy, polysomnography and daytime tests working to internationally accepted standards. We also actively take part in the STP education programme with our own students as well as support other departments and hospitals. Student mentorship will be included in this with the support of the departmental Training Officer. Departmental clinical audit and participation in research studies is also required. Main duties of the job The main duties of the Polysomnographer role will require: Independent set up, bio calibration, data recording, analysis and reporting of a wide range of sleep diagnostic tests in both our in-patient ward and outpatient department. Supervision of junior staff and temporary staffing as needed. Mentorship and support of our SPT post graduate students Equipment testing as needed. Participation in clinical audit and research as required. Attendance and where required participation at departmental meetings and MDT meetings. Participation in departmental SOP creation and updates. Ongoing risk assessment to ensure the wellbeing of service users and staff. Please see the role profile for full details. As an in-patient department we will be open 24/7 Monday to Friday. Shift times vary and will include working into the mid to later evening. There is no overnight working required for the Healthcare Scientists. Part time / flexible working may be considered and not unreasonably denied dependent on how these fits with the team and service requirements.
