Description Fleet Manager Basingstoke | On site | Permanent, full-time £42,500 per Annum Benefits We are looking to recruit an experienced and dynamic LCV Fleet Manager to join our team. The role is on site any 5 over 7 days a week and will report to the Transport Operations Manager. This is an exciting role in a fast-paced FMCG environment, looking after over 300 pieces of fleet, rising to over 400 during peak operations. Fleet Manager - Key Responsibilities: The role is focussed on and not limited to the following key areas: Leading People, Driver Compliance, Fleet Compliance, Cost Controls, Driver Training, Compliance Auditing and Management Information Reporting. Leading People 1. Lead your team to deliver the key activities of the Transport Compliance Team, engaging and developing your team. 2. Maintain and develop relationships with third party sub-contractors, agency staff and clients. 3. Undertaking serious event investigations as needed. 4. Increasing transport compliance knowledge across our Management and Clerical colleagues Driver Compliance 1. Managing all Operator Licence regulations and within the Road Traffic Act laws to ensure that we remain legally compliant, taking action when needed in areas such as, but not limited to, Drivers Hours, Tachograph Use, operating within Speed Limits, Record Keeping, Driver Defect Reporting, Driver Pre and Post Use Checks quality and adherence to, Vehicle Security, Driving Styles, Licence Checks. Fleet Compliance 2. To ensure all vehicles and trailers, including hired vehicles and trailers, are kept in a fit and serviceable condition, with all defects resolved. 3. To ensure that all vehicles are maintained within service intervals; at a flat profile across the year and that all inspections are planned to maximise kit uptime. 4. All vehicle paperwork is returned on time, in full and retained in line with our Undertakings. Cost Control: 1. Manage Peak Fleet and fleet changes in and out of the business, meeting commissioning timelines for inbound and outbound fleet; minimise cost risk attached with rental fleet over peak seasons. 2. Manage and reduce R&M and damage spend through the proactive management of our maintenance contractors, Insurance claims, including trend analytics on highest spend categories seeking opportunities to reduce spend. 3. Identify opportunities for improved efficiencies within the site, recommending and implementing changes. Driver Training 1. Manage the Training Activities required of the Driver Training Team to deliver all training activities in a proactive and planned manner, to cover and not limited to: a. Driver CPC b. Driver Assessments c. Scheduled Refresher Training – Annual and 2 yearly 2. Driver SSOW Review programme – ensure that all SWOPS are reviewed and reissued in line with their review dates. 3. Ensure all Driver Training Records are maintained safely and secure, avoiding breeches of GDPR 4. Tool box talk development in line with emerging trends and Health and Safety Monthly Topics Compliance 1. Managing compliance via a regular programme of audits across all areas of responsibility. 1. Ensuring all aspects of Health and Safety are met, including but not limited to Control of Contractors Management Information 1. Provision of key MI across all areas of responsibility Fleet Manager - Essential requirements: Transport Manager International CPC in Road Haulage. Minimum of 3 years in LCV fleet management/operations on a fleet of 40 vehicles. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in managing Driver Compliance, including ability to use Tachograph management systems Experience of providing exceptional customer service Experience of Compliance Auditing Processes To be flexible in their working hours to ensure contact time with day, evening and weekend shifts and be available for 'out of hours' communication where the need arises. This role will require some weekend working, every 1 in two weekends will need to be covered, albeit this can be completed remotely. Good analytical and numerical skills.
