Principal Ecologist needed in Hereford Paying £54.19 per day ref OR2886
Full time hours on a temporary basis
We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to support our Nutrient Neutrality and Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Complex Calculations & Legal Agreements: Conduct bespoke calculations and manage detailed data submissions, ensuring compliance with HRA requirements through tailored legal agreements.
* Nutrient Neutrality Initiatives:
o Assess land/building use changes, particularly in agriculture, to generate nutrient neutrality.
o Develop offsite nutrient neutrality solutions and manage third-party phosphate credit schemes.
o Evaluate intensive agricultural developments, including anaerobic digestion plants and poultry units.
o Oversee major residential applications that do not utilize standard drainage systems.
* HRA Considerations:
o Analyse air emissions and recreational impacts from agricultural developments.
o Address significant water and air pollution issues, including wastewater treatment upgrades.
o Draft and publish updated guidance and FAQs.
* Planning Applications Support:
o Provide technical support for major and strategic planning applications.
o Represent the Natural Environment Service at planning appeal hearings and coordinate written representations.
* Environmental Advice Service Management:
o Manage the charged scheme and liaise with Natural England’s Discretionary Advice Service.
o Ensure reports are technically and legally accurate.
* Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG):
o Support the Development Management Team with legal agreements and habitat assessments.
o Develop and secure Habitat Banks and strategic approaches to BNG.
