An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Occupational Therapist to join the Major Trauma service, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in clinically leading a dynamic team of Occupational Therapists ensuring the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services throughout the patient journey from Critical Care through the Major Trauma Ward. Flexibility and experience in managing Major Trauma care is essential combined with proven leadership skills.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for a complex clinical caseload within the major trauma service. They will ensure delivery of evidence-based and client-centred principles to assess, implement and evaluate interventions to patients with potentially life changing injuries. They will manage Occupational Therapists responsible for early intervention rehabilitation and supporting patients with the transition from the acute setting to home. This role plays a key part in the patient journey – working closely with patients and the multidisciplinary team to identify patient centred rehabilitation goals and deliver holistic rehabilitation. Alongside this there is a key role in further establishing and developing the clinical service.
They should have senior clinical experience working as an Occupational Therapist within an acute or rehab specialty with the ability to lead in the provision of clinical expertise, offering advice and support to patients, their carers and other health care professionals. They will be responsible for the clinical supervision of two senior Occupational Therapists and the clinical guidance of three Rehab Assistant Practitioners. They will be an excellent team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills. They will foster positive and collaborative team culture, integrating best practices into the team's approach and have previous experience of undertaking service development/QI practices.
There will be a commitment to weekend working in the occupational therapy team at Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as part of the 5 over 7 day working pattern.
