Markets and High Street Officer Pontypool Contract £15.84 per hour Our client is looking for an experienced Markets and High Street Officer. The Economy & Skills objectives for the Council place a strong emphasis on using our premises to support the foundational economy, including rejuvenating Pontypool’s markets. This post will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the market building and the management of its tenants. As part of a team, this role will work towards improving occupancy levels through excellent trader and customer relations, improving the appearance and conditions in the Indoor Market through good operational management and cleansing standards, and improving footfall through small activities and marketing opportunities. Responsibility for managing effective and regular opening and closing of the market building, and security including setting of alarms. Management of two indoor market staff and rotas for the effective running of the service area Responsibility for Duty of Care Monitoring associated with the Market Building. Contributing to, overseeing and maintaining an improved standard of cleanliness and appearance of the indoor market hall, entrance areas and yard on a day to day basis. Monitoring the cleanliness of the toilets on a regular basis throughout the day and particularly over the busiest times of the day. Prompt reporting of faults and maintenance issues to the property helpdesk. Regular controlling and monitoring of temperatures within the indoor market to avoid excessive use of energy. Ordering and managing supplies. Being responsible for day to day decision making regarding the operation of the Pontypool Indoor Market. Monitoring and policing of conditions of stallholder licenses in liaison with the Team Leader, Foundational Economy Projects Responsible for the letting of permanent and temporary stalls and tables within the Indoor Market including initial contact with potential traders, managing the application process and liaising with the lettings panel. Acting as the point of contact for dealing with and resolving user and trader complaints and only referring unresolved issues to the Team Leader, Foundational Economy Projects 1.1 An understanding of Premises Management 1.2 Knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) 1.3 Possession of First Aid and Lifting and Handling Certificates or be willing to undertake relevant training 1.4 Understanding of Marketing Experience 2.1 Experience of working in a similar customer and business focused environment 2.2 Experience of organising events, promotional campaigns etc 2.3 Supervision of staff in a customer-focused setting Skills and Abilities 3.1 Excellent communication skills 3.2 Ability to organise effectively, with attention to detail 3.3 Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload 3.4 Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh PLEASE ONLY apply if you have the necessary skills, experience and expertise.
