The post holder will contribute to all aspects of the Cardiology service at MKUH, including provision of acute and elective care of adult Cardiology patients in conjunction with community services and regional specialist centres. Cardiology Consultants also support the Cardiology in-reach services, triage daily e-referrals from Primary Care and provide advice and guidance for GPs. The successful candidate will participate in the Heart Failure multidisciplinary team, including close collaboration with the Community Heart Failure Nursing team. This includes support for the Trust Heart Failure nurses to deliver excellent care for in-patients with Heart Failure across the Trust. The post-holder will be expected to develop and implement quality improvement based upon the National Heart Failure Audit and Business Intelligence. The post-holder will also deliver Heart failure out-patient clinics and ward rounds. The post holder will contribute to the development of the virtual cardiology ward and care of patients using this nurse-led service. There is a need for further consolidation of the close links between the Trust and regional ICC centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, and the post-holder is expected to participate fully in the OUH ICC service through participation in MDTs and provision of specialist clinics at one or both sites.
