Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant
We are seeking compassionate and motivated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a dedicated team at a leading SEN secondary school supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and a variety of complex needs. Located conveniently near the M57 with bus links to Huyton train station, this is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about helping young people reach their full potential in a specialized learning environment.
Position Details:
Hours: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
Roles Available: Part-time and full-time positions
About the Role:
You will be supporting students across a wide range of learning stages, from non-verbal communication through Makaton/PECS, up to formal curriculum classes including GCSEs and A-Levels. Your role will involve tailoring support to each child’s individual needs, fostering a safe, encouraging environment for personal and academic growth.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to each student’s learning requirements
2. Facilitate communication and engagement, using Makaton and PECS where necessary
3. Assist students in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials and approaches as needed
4. Support positive behaviour and promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
5. Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to create a nurturing, inclusive environment
