CAD Engineer
As part of the R&D team, this role entails using knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical principles, and CAD to design next-generation products. These skills are also used to produce images and documentation to support the R&D process, our product documentation, and other areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Designing mechanical components as part of new product development using Solidworks (e.g. component layouts, product casings).
2. Liaising with suppliers to facilitate the manufacture of designed parts.
3. Producing manufacturing drawings and wiring diagrams.
4. Producing support documentation (e.g. datasheets, user manuals, build manuals).
5. Liaising with test houses for product safety assessments.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities
1. Follow established safety procedures.
2. Adhere to relevant company quality, certification, and compliance standards.
3. Be aware of company responsibilities with regard to ATEX, UKEX, IECEx, CSA certifications and subsequent duty of care to customers when using the company’s products.
Interfaces/Interactions
1. The R&D team for coordination of product development.
2. The production team for collaboration on developing internal documentation.
3. The sales team for collaboration on producing sales documentation.
4. The logistics team and suppliers for sourcing and manufacturing mechanical parts.
5. Communicating with test houses to facilitate product testing (IP, safety).
6. The role reports to the Technical Director.
Skills
1. CAD (Solidworks is essential, SEE Electrical is a bonus).
2. Understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g. injection molding, CNC machining).
3. Writing clear and concise instructions/documentation.
4. Knowledge of design for IP (e.g. IP65) and mechanical aspects of safety (e.g. BS EN 61010).
Terms of Employment
1. Full time (less experienced engineers) or part time (more experienced engineers).
2. Flexible hours option (most hours in core working day 8:00 until 16:30, but possible to work earlier, later, or weekends if desired).
3. Working from home option (minimum one day per week in the office).
4. 25 days holiday per annum (full-time equivalent). Every 3 years gain an extra day up to 28 days maximum.
