We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our mental health team at HMP New Hall based in Wakefield.
HMP New Hall is a female adult and young offenders institution offering a medium level of security with a population of 344 females.
The mental health team consists of a team lead, 3 x senior mental health nurses, 1 x learning disability nurse, 1 x mental health nurse, 1 healthcare assistant, and 2 mental health practitioners.
The mental health team has an office based within the healthcare department; however, you will be mainly based on the prison wings conducting clinics, assessments, and dealing with case loads.
Hours
The site offers a 7-day service, and rotas are done 1 month in advance:
* Monday - Friday: 8am - 6pm
* Weekends and Bank Holidays: 9am - 5pm
* 1 weekend in 5
Salary
This position is full-time; you’ll receive an annual salary of up to £42,094 - £47,466 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Be responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients’ mental health needs.
* Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social, and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
* Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence-based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
* Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
* Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient’s care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.
