As Clinical Coder/Administratoryou will provide an invaluable link between the third-party information thatcomes into the Practice on a daily basis and the patients electronic records. If you have accurate keyboard andIT skills and have an understanding of medical terminology, then this could bethe job for you!
Experience
Previous experience as a coder or medical notes summarizer isideal but not essential.
This role may also suit someone with previous nursing or clinicalexperience
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Coder will be responsible for assigning the correct codes to a patient's record in terms of medical diagnosis, service received as well as ensuring relevant documentation of procedures is attached to the record. They will ensure the codes are applied correctly.

Ash Surgery is a traditional GP Practice, set in the heart of rural East Kent, close to the city of Canterbury. We are a close-knit team with 2 Partners, two salaried GPs, a paramedic practitioner and nursing team made up of two Practice nurses and three HCAs.
Our administration team work very closely with the clinical team to support each other and deliver the very best in patient care.
Job responsibilities
Primary responsibility duties
Accurately clinically code data on the clinical system into thepatient record
Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence,coding appropriately and completing any detailed action.
Input and extract data as required to support practice reports
File and store records as required
Photocopyingdocumentation as required
Actionall incoming correspondence emails and mail in a timely manner
Scanpatient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients'healthcare records
Answerincoming telephone call, transfer call or deal with callers requestappropriately
Carryout systems searches as requested
Supportall clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested.
Secondary duties
Reviewand update the practice coding policy as required in conjunction with the(Practice Manager)
Partakein audit as directed by the audit lead
BookAppointments
Completeopening and closing office procedures
Person Specification
Experience
* A background in Notes Summarising (clinical)
* Knowledge and experience with DOCMAN and EMIS clinical systems is preferred
* An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the workplace and being able to follow data protection policies and guidelines
* Knowledge of QOF
* Ability to create searches within the clinical system and conduct basic audits as of when required.
* Experience with Ardens template
* Ability to work as a team player
* Ability to work autonomously in a very busy role
* Ability to prioritise work when under pressure is essential.
* An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the workplace and being able to follow data protection policies and guidelines
Qualifications
* G.C.S.E Science or "A" Level Biology or equivalent
