An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and positive individual to play an influential role in ensuring the provision of ‘safe staffing’ and shaping the national policy for healthcare staffing. As a member of the Healthcare Staffing Programme Senior Leadership Team within Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS), you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of this national programme and support the wider assurance and improvement work across the organisation.
Salary: £70,986 - £75,937 (Band 8b)
Hours: Full time (37 hours per week)
As an experienced clinical leader, you will provide senior clinical leadership and operational management for the Healthcare Staffing Programme to support a national, data and intelligence-led approach to continuous improvement of care and the implementation of Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s responsibilities outlined in the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act (2019). This post has a particular focus on ensuring HIS meets its legislative duties in relation to monitoring NHS Board’s compliance with the staffing duties outlined within the Act.
A key requirement within this role will be the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and networks with a range of stakeholders and senior leaders to provide the necessary support and challenge to ensure effective compliance.
As a member of the Directorate’s Senior Management Team (SMT), the postholder will provide direct advice and support to the programme’s Associate Director and the wider Directorate’s SMT on the portfolio’s key outcomes and actively contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s strategic and key corporate objectives.
You will be an experienced senior clinical leader with significant operational management experience and experience of leading on Clinical Governance, Care Assurance, and workforce within the NHS or other healthcare settings. Educated to Masters Level in Quality Improvement or healthcare (or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience), you will have expert knowledge of healthcare staffing with a clear grasp of concepts and their practical application in health care settings.
Regular travel throughout Scotland may also be required for this role.
