Registered Nurse - Haematology Oncology Day Unit

We have an opportunity to work within Haematology Oncology Day Unit (HODU) and Fareham Haematology Oncology Day Unit (FHODU). The service is spread across the 2 main sites QA hospital in Cosham and Fareham community hospital.
The Unit provides Systemic Anti Cancer Therapies (SACT) to cancer patients that live in the South East region of Hampshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight.
Main duties of the job
This is an opportunity to develop a career in cancer care, to learn and develop skills such as cannulation, phlebotomy, and Central Venous Access Devices (CVADs). You will also develop skills and expected training for SACT such as Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Antibody Therapy, and Hormone Therapy.
We support patients with chronic diseases such as myeloproliferative disorders and complex Haematological disorders including hemochromatosis, polycythaemia, and sickle cell anaemia.
Staff will be expected to learn unique specialised care within HODU and to complete the United Kingdom Oncology Nurses Society (UKONs) SACT passport, which is an expectation that nurses complete within 6 months of training.

Job responsibilities
1. Promote and set high standards of nursing care and maintain the delivery of quality care within trust policies, protocols, and guidelines.
2. Provide and deliver high standard evidence-based nursing care through assessment, planning, and evaluating individual patient needs.
3. Recognise and respond to changes in patient status, undertaking first line interventions within scope of practice and referring to the appropriate clinician as required.
4. Actively promote safe working practices to prevent harm to patients and participate in safety audits.
5. Communicate and work with the multidisciplinary team to improve quality of care and informed clinical decisions.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current RN registration with NMC and relevant post-registration qualifications.
* Degree in a relevant field.
* Evidence of recent CPD.
Experience
* An awareness of research and evidence-based practice relevant to the clinical area.
* Experience working at peripheral sites.
Additional criteria
* Ability to prioritise workload, instruct, and direct others.
* Organisational skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* Able to support the development of others.
* Articulate and knowledgeable about current professional nursing issues.
* Health promotion skills.
