Job Overview
We are looking to appoint a Solicitor or Fellow of CILEX to join the Legal Services team in Burnley.
Responsibilities
As a lawyer within the Litigation and Regulation team, you will manage a varied and interesting caseload of both criminal and civil regulatory matters. This will include:
1. Giving advice to the Council on licensing, planning, environmental health, and housing.
2. Representing the Council in the Magistrates’ Court and County Court.
3. Providing advice to elected members in committee.
Qualifications
You will have:
1. At least 2 years’ experience of working in a legal environment in a fee-earning capacity.
2. Advocacy experience in the Magistrates’ Court.
3. Experience in three of the following areas of law: civil litigation, criminal law, licensing, highways, planning, information law, and housing.
Skills
You will possess excellent communication skills and:
1. Have the ability to draft legal proceedings and statutory notices.
2. Manage a range of complex and competing priorities and deadlines.
3. Be an effective team member who can work without supervision.
4. Manage a diverse workload.
