About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Renewals Manager (S&C, Track) to join our Rail team to work in Crewe as part of the Central Rail Systems Alliance (CRSA).
Our CRSA offers the unique opportunity to work with partner organisations across the rail industry. CRSA has been created to make a positive impact on the UK track renewals industry by drawing on the strengths of all alliance partners and collaborative working.
Bringing together knowledge and experience in critical rail infrastructure and track renewals, the alliance deploys innovative working methods to realise efficiencies and create a more reliable railway infrastructure.
Role Profile:
To lead the renewals team in the planning and safe delivery Track Renewals work packages in compliance with the appropriate Network Rail Group and Line Standards and Safety Legislation within the agreed financial contractual allowables.
What you'll be doing
As a Renewals Manager (Track), you will:
* Be responsible for the detailed planning and execution of Track Renewals Works as allocated;
* Be responsible for planning and directing the activities of Senior Supervisors and Senior Engineers
* Hold Whiteboard / Stage Gate meetings in accordance with CRSA Track Renewals Procedure producing the required outputs to support effective and robust delivery of the works to completion;
* Ensure compliance with Contract allowables for all works;
* Ensure compliance with all relevant Safety Legislation and Welfare Regulations;
* Be responsible for ensuring all works undertaken comply with contract specifications and Network Rail Group and Line Standards;
* Be responsible for ensuring works are undertaken by competent staff;
* Support the Project Manager in delivering the Alliance Programme as required;
* Deliver Duty Management and ‘On Call’ as required;
* Ensure maximum utilisation of resources in delivery of all works;
* Ensure all staff have the necessary skills and are competent to undertake all duties safely, efficiently and to Contract Specification;
* Ensure all works are carried out safely in accordance with Rules, Regulations and appropriate Safety Legislation;
* Participate in the planning and preparation of Track Renewal works;
* Produce status and progress reports on site works;
* Ensure all works are undertaken in accordance with the WPP and any deviations from programme timings are reported in a timely manner;
* Ensure track inspections are undertaken as stipulated in Network Rail Line Standards
* Undertake safety inspection as stipulated by CRSA procedures and Contract requirements;
* Responsible for the production of WPP’s and Task Briefs;
* Ensure appropriate Daily Work Returns (Planned v Actuals) are submitted in a timely manner;
* Promote a safe working culture.
Who we're looking for
Personal Qualities & Experience
The following qualities/experience are essential:
* Demonstrable experience in Permanent Way track renewals performing in a managerial post with an in-depth knowledge of Track Renewals discipline;
* Strong knowledge of financial controls;
* Good knowledge of Track Renewals Disciplines;
* Excellent knowledge of Rules & Regulations, H.A.S.A.W and other appropriate regulations;
* Excellent knowledge of both group and line standards;
* In depth knowledge of all aspects of track renewals disciplines;
* HNC in an Engineering discipline or working towards;
* Good IT skills;
* Good communication and management skills;
* Full driving licence;
* PTS and COSS.
