Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 + up to 10% bonus per annum. In addition, up to £7,500 Regional Allowance depending on location.

Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Commercial & Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the successful assessment, management, and delivery of engineering solutions across a variety of non-residential developments, conversions and retirement projects.

What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will be responsible for managing your workload and allocated tasks to ensure all relevant Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are consistently met. You will conduct engineering assessments of building regulation and warranty applications for non-residential developments, conversions, and the retirement sector, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
You will also collaborate with Major Project Engineers on the engineering aspects of Higher Risk Buildings, including Building Control assessments and Building Assessment Certificate applications for existing buildings, liaising with the Building Safety Regulator where necessary. As a key technical resource, you will provide professional advice and support in assessing designs to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and warranty standards, while also resolving any engineering issues arising from submissions.
* Negotiate with developers, builders, and their professional advisors, from initial design to completion, to ensure proposals are satisfactory in relation to building control, warranty and land quality in accordance with relevant regulations and NHBC Standards where appropriate.
* Manage the warranty aspects by supporting inspection staff with the provision of expert advice, inspection of high risk/complex elements of building work and review of progress.
* Prepare technical reports to builders and/or professional advisors and check reports prepared by others.
* On claims, agree brief with client, undertake investigations, report on findings, prepare solutions for remedial work schemes, issue tender information, assess costs and undertake site inspections.
* Manage all aspects of assigned claims projects to ensure delivery of outputs is within specific timescales and budget.
* Undertake training, coaching, and mentoring of Commercial & Quality team members and others as required.
* Undertake quality monitoring of Technical Operations staff, including Major Projects and claims reviews/reports, within area of specialism, as part of departmental quality management process.
The ideal candidate will have
* Extensive experience in the construction industry with knowledge of the housing and commercial sectors.
* Good communication skills both verbal and written with appropriate interpersonal and presentational skills.
* Able to work with a minimum of supervision in line with established policies and procedures.
* Expertise in appropriate specialism.
* Understanding and experience of forensic investigations of buildings, defect identification and repair.
* Wider knowledge of Technical Operation SOPs, company Systems & processes.
* IT literate with the ability to use a range of software programs.
* Significant relevant knowledge and understanding of all aspects of superstructure, foundation and geotechnical design with regard to building structures.
* Significant knowledge of environmental issues and relevant standards/legislation.

Education and Qualifications
* Chartered membership of an appropriate professional institution i.e. BEng/CABE/ IStructE.
* Relevant accredited degree i.e. Building Engineering or Construction related.
* Full Driving Licence.
