Core Purpose of the Role
To be an excellent classroom practitioner who is an effective role model for other staff members. To work alongside the Head of Faculty to develop, implement and evaluate a cohesive curriculum that ensures students develop knowledge, skills and understanding. To support teaching across the school community, enhancing the quality of education and opportunity for all students.
Specific Responsibilities of the post Include: Teaching and Learning
* Support the Head of Faculty in the efficient running of the department.
* Teach engaging and motivating lessons that consistently inspire students and model best practice using expert teaching principles.
* Provide effective feedback to ensure students make good progress, including regular marking of students' work and maintaining records to show student progression.
* Support every student to reach their potential through effective monitoring of performance and development of intervention strategies as necessary.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of examination board requirements and continually develop subject knowledge.
* Provide a classroom environment that nurtures and develops learning, modeling this to others.
* Model best practice in adaptive teaching, ensuring all students achieve or exceed their targets.
* Tailor interventions for students with targeted support and measurable outcomes.
* Maintain productive communication with parents, carers, and members of the school community.
* Utilize a range of strategies to successfully manage classroom behavior, enabling all students to learn.
* Develop plans, materials, and resources with measurable results to support effective curriculum delivery.
* Lead in using student data to highlight development and enhance learning.
* Design and develop assessment materials that measure the impact of the curriculum and students’ learning.
* Work alongside senior and middle leaders to drive strategy as outlined in the school development plan.
* Contribute to, and apply, policies and procedures.
* Develop enrichment through extra-curricular clubs and trips that inspire learners.
* Provide tailored coaching to team members to improve their pedagogy and practice.
* Support early career teachers and team members through instructional coaching.
* Participate in QA programmes both within the department and across the school, utilizing relevant research to support learning and progress.
Specific Responsibilities as a member of staff:
* Be punctual for all commitments and committed to teamwork within all aspects of the school.
* Ensure the safety and welfare of all students is prioritized at all times.
* Pay due regard to Health & Safety in respect of all members of the school and report matters that compromise this to the Buildings Manager.
* Support the ethos of the school and demonstrate high standards of personal and professional conduct.
* Implement all school policies as appropriate.
* Attend all meetings as directed and carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Executive Headteacher/Head of School.
