Job Title: Certification Engineer
As a Certification Engineer, you’ll be responsible for providing technical services on behalf of SGS customers who have applied for certificates confirming compliance of equipment with various published standards. These standards relate to the testing and certification of equipment intended for use in explosive atmospheres.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Assess the design of, examine, and test prototype equipment in accordance with requirements in published standards and relevant procedure documents.
2. Prepare assessment, certification, examination, or test reports following relevant procedures.
3. Assess drawings, photographic, and descriptive documentation required to specify the equipment for compliance with standards.
4. Prepare Certificates detailing the equipment being certified, including any acceptable design variations and references to assessed documentation.
5. Conduct certification and testing work.
To succeed in this role, you need recent experience specifying sample equipment and any special requirements for assessment, testing, and certification processes. You should also have recent experience advising and liaising with test and certification subcontractors.
Qualifications:
In addition to the above, you should demonstrate:
* Experience in an engineering environment, including drawing office practices, factory production, and quality control systems.
* A documented record of experience and competence showing professional progression.
* Experience applying Ex standards, testing protocols, and professional judgment regarding compliance and non-compliance significance.
* Technical qualifications obtained through higher education in engineering.
