Commercial Underwriter - Education and Public Sector - Salary is Competitive Location - Flexible across our UK Sites Over the past 5 years we have achieved significant growth of our Education and Public Sector Business across Mid-Market and Speciality Lines. Our ambition over the next 5 years is to continue to grow this part of our account and as part of these ambitions we are recruiting dedicated underwriters into our National Public Sector and Education team. This is a great job for someone with previous experience of underwriting for the public sector and educational sector or an experienced underwriter who is keen to develop their skills within this area A bit about the job: Working across the full range of public sector education risks from Further Education, Higher Education and Private Independent Schools to NHS Trusts and Town Councils you will play a key part in growing and maintain our business within these areas. You will: Ensure that service for new business, mid-term adjustments (MTAs) and/or renewals are handled swiftly for our brokers virtual Underwriting decisions made may need wider business relationships taken into account (depending on the broker and the size of the account involved) Prioritization of tasks will be key to ensure that efficient service is key to everything they do. Priorities will be agreed amongst the team and supervised by Team Managers Interact with multiple stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely quotes are issued in line with broker expectations. Perform controls to ensure the underwriting risk always stays within tolerance Skills and experience we’re looking for: An experienced property and liability underwriter, Public Sector and Educational underwriting would be beneficial but not essential The ability to analyse risks and communicate and present effectively to brokers and/or customers Knowledge of complaints process; breach procedures; GDPR and other impacting legislation Strong commercial business acumen to build and deliver business cases Works collaboratively within a large, sophisticated organisation and proven leadership and mentoring ability What you’ll get for this role: Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow – is a promise we make to our colleagues too.
