We are seeking a Deputy Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to support the over-sight and management of allegations against individuals working or volunteering with chil-dren and young people. This role involves ensuring that investigations align with Local Au-thority Designated Officer criteria and national safeguarding guidelines.
You will provide specialist advice, training, and guidance to organisations, agencies, and service providers to ensure best practices in safeguarding and child protection.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the LADO in overseeing and managing cases involving allegations against professionals and volunteers working with children.
* Monitor and track cases, ensuring timely progression and resolution.
* Provide expert safeguarding advice and consultation to senior leaders and managers across multiple agencies.
* Liaise with key stakeholders, including employers, police, Crown Prosecution Ser-vice, and regulatory bodies.
* Ensure consistency and thoroughness in safeguarding processes when allegations arise.
* Maintain and manage confidential case information and databases.
* Chair Allegation Review Meetings and provide professional oversight.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of safeguarding training for multi-agency partners.
* Undertake Ofsted and DBS checks, escalating concerns where necessary.
* Represent the LADO in meetings and deputise when required.
Qualifications & Registration:
* Essential: Degree in Professional Social Work or equivalent qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, CSS).
* Essential: Registration with Social Work England.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Knowledge (Essential):
* In-depth knowledge of child protection and safeguarding legislation.
* Strong understanding of Social Work Theory and its application in practice.
* Expertise in conducting complex risk assessments and investigations.
* Thorough knowledge of multi-agency safeguarding protocols and employment regulations relating to allegations.
Skills (Essential):
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to challenge, influence, and negotiate with senior professionals.
* Excellent ability to analyze and report complex information.
* Skilled in delivering presentations and training on safeguarding matters.
Experience (Essential):
* Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding within a statutory Chil-dren's Social Care setting.
* Demonstrated experience in multi-agency collaboration and chairing complex meet-ings.
* Proven ability to assess risk and develop intervention strategies to protect children.
* Experience conducting investigations and advising on safeguarding concerns.
* Ability to produce accurate, timely, and concise reports for senior leadership and ex-ternal partners.
Additional Information:
* The role requires initiative and independent decision-making regarding safeguarding interventions.
* You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders including social workers, regulatory bodies, and employers.
* IT proficiency is essential, with experience using case management systems (e.g., MOSAIC).
* Emotional resilience is required, as the role involves handling sensitive and complex safeguarding concerns.
