Process Safety Manager

In this role you will:
* Provide management and central co-ordination of the Irvine Site’s Process Safety activities aimed at reducing the risk from fire, explosion and toxic hazards including Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) and to limit their consequences.
* Manage and lead the site through the Site Business Continuity Planning process in accordance with GSK Policies, to manage and implement strategies, plans and measures, appropriate to the needs of the site, corporate functions and external stakeholders, ensuring long term operability.
* Ensure the Site’s compliance with COMAH regulations by:
* maintaining the Major Accident Prevention Policy
* managing COMAH inspections by the HSE
* conducting COMAH Audits
* tracking delivery of the COMAH improvement plan
* maintaining the draft safety report
* Support the development and implementation of the Process Safety Management System for the Irvine site to ensure alignment with Corporate expectations.
* Develop and implement a Process Safety Policy which defines Intent, key elements/arrangements in place, roles and responsibilities and cover Major Accident Hazards.
* The Intent will specify Tolerability of Risk Criteria. The specified levels of individual and societal risk must meet or exceed Regulatory requirements and be aligned with comparable industry standards.
* Ensure both qualitative and quantified analysis methods are used where appropriate to assess risk and compare against the tolerable risk criteria to assist with decision making.
* Track, leading and lagging process safety performance indicators for the Site and report to the Senior Management Team to measure the effectiveness of the Site’s Process Safety Management System. This includes an annual review.

Qualifications & Skills:
* A degree in an appropriate technical discipline is required or relevant practical experience and a working knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
* Relevant experience in plant Operations, Projects, Engineering or similar environment.
* Ability to develop solutions for COMAH and process safety related projects and provide site response to process safety related legislation.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
* MSc in Process Safety.
* Well developed influencing and interpersonal skills are key, as is the ability to strategically plan within the context of the business plan.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills. Ability to deal across all site functions, communicate with relevant above site teams and interface with appropriate external regulatory and inspection authorities.
* High degree of data rationality.
* Strategic awareness and broad-based thinking.
* Providing training on risk management principles, tools and techniques for all site managers.
