Help Us Make Music Education Accessible to All –
Join the Glad Foundation as a Trustee! Seeking new board members to support our community music programming.
Are you passionate about creating opportunities for people to access the joy of music? Could you use your skills and experience to contribute to a small but vibrant charity dedicated to breaking down barriers? If so, The Glad Foundation would love to hear from you!
We are a Southside Glasgow-based charity committed to ensuring that young people, regardless of their background or ability, can engage meaningfully with music and the wider arts. Since 2015, we’ve worked with schools and community groups to deliver a wide-ranging programme of music activities, empowering young people to connect with themselves and their community. Our current programmes include: The Annette Street Drummers, a longstanding samba bateria-style street band focussed on serving children from some of the most disadvantaged backgrounds in Scotland; the Glad Kids Choir, an accessible choir for ages 5 - 10; Glad Days, an event series showcasing our programmes; and one-off music workshops run throughout the year for all ages and abilities.
We are now looking for new trustees to help shape the future of our charity and ensure we can continue to grow our impact, particularly in supporting the diverse young people we serve.
What’s Involved?
As a trustee, you will:
1. Attend quarterly board meetings and an annual AGM (held in Glasgow or virtually).
2. Offer guidance and practical support to our Project Manager, committing to a small amount of regular work each month outside of meetings.
3. Help shape the strategic direction of The Glad Foundation to maximise our reach and impact.
This is a voluntary position, but your contribution will have a profound impact on the lives of young people and the cultural landscape of the Southside of Glasgow. We will always be happy to cover any expenses associated with attending board meetings if needed.
How to Apply
If this opportunity excites you, we’d love to hear from you! Please email us at info@thegladfoundation.co.uk with:
1. A short statement about why you’d like to join the board.
2. A brief overview of your skills and experience, particularly those relevant to the role.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and we will contact applicants to arrange an interview—either virtually or in person—at the first opportunity.
The deadline is Friday 28 February 2025 at 11:50.
