The Head of Business Intelligence is a critical role leading the way in how AbbVie collects, interprets and acts on data and insight. The Head of Business Intelligence leads and manages the AbbVie UK Business Intelligence Team, made up of Data Transformation (Data Analytics & Stewardship) Business Analytics, and Customer Insights & Market Research
Data Analytics and Stewardship (known as the Data Transformation Team) are responsible for understanding the scope of the data available, improving its quality and transforming the way AbbVie translate and interpret data. This team are constantly striving to improve the data and the platforms which AbbVie can leverage to derive critical analysis. This team works closely with Data Engineers and Visualization specialists at a European level to translate and deliver the needs of the UK. Collectively these deliver actionable insights and drive robust and timely decision making.
Business Analytics is responsible for delivering to the business insightful analysis which support the brands with planning, reporting or performance management, as well as supporting delivering strategic initiatives across the affiliate. The development of this analysis is the product of a deep working relationship with the business to fully understand the required analysis and the Data and Analytics team to understand the scope of the data available.
Customer Insights is responsible for the provision of product and therapy area data, market research, and brand team insight generation to drive decision making. Market research and insight gathering is undertaken in order to improve understanding of brand team opportunity areas and issues, and recommend solutions to the brand team (for example, perception of our products by customers, optimal pricing, impact of promotion against customers). Customer Insights improves decision making by providing an independent voice that challenges the Brand Team strategy and performance on the basis of objective use of market data and market research.
The Head of Business Intelligence role is critical in spotting opportunities and managing demand across all three areas and to ensuring strategic priorities and planning deadlines are met across the business
The role will also be key in delivering advancements for the effective management of AbbVie’s data and in the Customer Engagement model across the affiliate.
Key responsibilities:
Leadership and management of the Business Intelligence Team
* Ensure appropriate recruitment, performance management and development of all direct reports, including team priority and objective setting, resourcing and structure
* Ensure delivery of customer insights support to brand teams / launch teams as per agreed plans and timelines
* Direct support to Affiliate Leadership Team and Business Unit Directors/Managers to ensure appropriate customer/business insight support is provided
* Work to optimise Business Intelligence systems and process to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
* Deliver effective budget management, vendor management and comply with procurement good practice
* As a member of the Customer Excellence Leadership Team (CELT), contributing to the continued development and success of the Customer Excellence department through leadership of the Business Intelligence Team and by sharing insights and experience within the CELT
* Promote the Business Intelligence function internally within the Affiliate Leadership Team, Brand Teams, UK Affiliate and to wider AbbVie as required
* Engage with Region Europe and Global to work in partnership and shape above country plans to best meet UK needs.
* Develop a positive culture within the Business Intelligence team, and wider Customer Excellence division
Compliance
* Manage the Business Intelligence processes for review and approval of market research, ensuring that these arrangements are in line with the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) standards, the British Healthcare Business Intelligence (BHBIA) guidelines and European Pharmaceutical Market Research Association (EPhMRA) guidelines.
* Provide guidance and leadership to line reports for all activities within the defined scope of the team within agreed timelines and according to company policy & process
* Develop existing SOPs and Policies for Market Research and Internal insight gathering
* Develop training program for Business Intelligence members in collaboration with the Learning department. Ensure completion of required training for self and team to meet compliance requirements.
Operational Delivery
* To ensure that the customer insights team contribute to and deliver data acquisition plans and insights as required by the brand teams and defined in the brand plans / launch plans / customer excellence plan.
* To ensure the Data Transformation Team develop and deliver an appropriate data strategy to meet the needs of the business, according to priorities defined in the global roadmap / brand plans / customer excellence plan.
* To ensure that market research is organised and managed in quality research programmes for products and therapy areas. Ensuring this begins with a clear identification of the issues to be researched, research design, fieldwork, data analysis, report presentation and recommendations. Ensuring follow through from research to implementation.
* To ensure relevant business stakeholders are provided with informed analysis and insights on the Market, AbbVie, AbbVie products, and all relevant therapy areas, in terms of performance, uptake, related issues, and promotion to proactively recommend appropriate action to help optimize product performance. The role is required to monitor product performance and more importantly answer the ‘why’ question.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Competencies
* Degree qualified
* Knowledge of CRM, SFE tools and systems
* Knowledge of data reporting tools and project management tools
* Knowledge of sales force measures and metrics as well as of the fundamental aspects of affiliate financial performance
* Knowledge of basic SFA (Salesforce Automation) processes and tools
* Understanding of brand planning cycle
* Good understanding of the organizational processes and procedures
* Experience in working with market research agencies and data suppliers
* Experience in project management
* Experience in presenting market data
* A good understanding of the NHS
* Experience of liaising with 3rd party providers as well as internal customers
* Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects, and successful matrix working with cross-functional teams
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Advanced Excel user
* Highly analytical, with an ability to problem-solve
* Ability to network both within and outside the organisation
