Registered Children’s School Nursing South & North Edinburgh Exciting opportunities are available to join one of our School Nursing Teams as part of NHS Lothian. We have part-time (term time) Band 5 School Staff Nurse positions available, and we are looking for passionate, caring, motivated people to join our highly skilled nursing teams. The post available is permanent (term time) 25 hours per week posts across 5 days, Monday to Friday. Our teams are made up of: · School Nurses (Registered Nurses who have then studied to complete a specialist qualification in school nursing) – these nurses lead the teams and support children and young people around the 10 key School Nursing Pathway areas. · Community Staff Nurses (Schools) – these are registered nurses who work as part of the School Nursing team delivering health services in schools. In addition, there are many other activities involving health drop in’s, teacher education sessions, that are key to this role. · Community Health Assistants (Schools) – these staff are not registered nurses but may have a SVQ level qualification or experience in the NHS. They support the team and undertake designated tasks such as Health Screening Programmes in schools e.g., height and weight measuring, vision tests and clerical work. · There are opportunities for further health promotion activities in Primary and Secondary schools. The Scottish Government has refocused the roles of School Nurses and Health Visitors in Scotland to support its goal of making Scotland the best place to grow up.
