Autism West Midlands is the leading charity in the West Midlands for autistic individuals. We deliver family and adult support and have been doing so for over 30 years.
We provide a range of Community Support Services and as part of this role you will be required to oversee the following services:
1. Birmingham Key Worker Service – A newly commissioned service supporting autistic adults who are at risk of hospital admission. Key Workers will develop understanding of a person’s autistic needs and support, coordinate and influence change to enable a person to be better understood and for them to live safely within the community.
2. Adult Services (Hereford & Worcestershire) – Community based support to enable autistic adults to better understand their autistic identity, develop strategies to enable healthier and happier lives. This service supports people awaiting an autism diagnosis or for people who are diagnosed.
3. Outreach Support (Shropshire & Telford) – We offer adults individual support packages that are funded through local authorities’ social care teams. Adults can develop their own support plans based on their individual needs and preferences.
4. Family Services (Shropshire) – We are often the very first port of call for a family whose child has received a diagnosis of Autism and offer early critical support and intervention for the whole family. We offer advice and guidance and training sessions to families, training courses as well as provide training to professionals.
5. You will oversee services based in Birmingham, Shropshire, Hereford, Worcestershire, and Telford. There will therefore be an expectation of travel to different locations when required.
6. You will have direct line management responsibility for Assistant Managers. Your role will be to lead and oversee the service delivery to ensure they are able to respond to the needs of families and adults affected by autism as well as meeting the changing priorities of commissioners and funders.
