Role Overview: We are seeking a commercially focused Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of our organisation, including the management of multiple subsidiaries. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in financial management and a proven ability to drive financial performance across diverse entities. Reporting directly to the COO, you will play a key role in our growth strategy, assisting with the integration of new subsidiaries and supporting fundraising efforts to fuel continued expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management: Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements for the organisation and its subsidiaries.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process and provide financial forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
3. Financial Analysis: Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
4. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards and manage audit preparations.
5. Strategic Support: Provide financial insights to senior management to inform business strategies and initiatives.
6. Fundraising Support: Assist with the development and execution of fundraising strategies, including financial reporting, budgeting, and monitoring of fundraising campaigns.
7. Banking Liaising: Manage accounts, credit lines, asset financing, and foreign exchange transactions.
8. Subsidiary Integration: Support the financial integration of multiple subsidiaries over the coming years, ensuring smooth onboarding and alignment with our organisational financial processes.
9. Daily Book-keeping: Manage and oversee the daily operations of the finance function, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all processes.
10. Management Accounts: Preparation of monthly management accounts for all group entities.
11. Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis against budgets and provide commentary for Management reports.
12. Statutory Accounts & Group Consolidation: Assist in the production of statutory accounts and group consolidations.
13. Cash Flow Statements: Preparation of consolidated cash flow statements.
14. VAT Returns: Review and prepare quarterly VAT returns and ensure compliance with UK tax regulations.
15. External Audits: Support external audits and regulatory filings.
16. Collaboration: Collaborate on budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering with operational teams.
17. Quality Control: Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
18. Internal Controls: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
19. Management Reporting: Work closely with management to share reports and analysis findings.
20. Financial Modelling: Develop and analyse financial models for forecasting, valuation, investment analysis, and risk assessment.
21. Accountability: Be responsible for the overall financial success of the business.
Requirements:
* Experience: Proven experience in your field, with a strong background in managing multiple subsidiaries.
* Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to drive financial performance and contribute to business growth.
* Qualifications: Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
* Skills: Strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial software, and excellent communication abilities.
* Fundraising Experience: Experience in managing or supporting fundraising activities is an advantage.
* Growth Mindset: Ability to manage the financial aspects of a fast-growing organisation, particularly in the integration of new subsidiaries.
* Location: Based in the Northwest of England, with occasional travel as required.
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
