The Role
University Hospital Monklands has a unique opportunity for an experienced and dynamic pharmacy technician to join our team as the Pharmacy Technician Team Manager. The successful candidate will provide managerial and professional leadership to the acute pharmacy technician team within UH Monklands as well as leading on the safe and cost effective purchasing of medicines. We are looking for a pharmacy technician with an extensive and varied experience within hospital pharmacy practice, including knowledge of procurement and stock control.
It is an exciting time in NHS Lanarkshire within expanding roles for the pharmacy team, including pharmacy technicians, as well as developing future plans for the replacement of the current University Hospital Monklands site. The post holder will be a key person involved in the realisation of plans for a new pharmacy department, including the introduction of automation.

What we'll need you to bring
Membership of Professional Body General Pharmaceutical Council
SVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3 plus accredited underpinning knowledge National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences
Evidence of Continuing Professional Development / management training, this to include HNC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or Management (or equivalent experience)
Professional Development Award (PDA) - Dispensary Checking Technician Qualification (DCT)
Work Based Assessor Qualification (or willingness to work towards)
Leadership and managerial experience within hospital pharmacy practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge and skills required to lead the technical workforce safely, effectively and efficiently. This to include experience in pharmacy store environment, procurement and stock control.
Experience in managing and supervising staff.
Experience in developing and implementing SOPs across a variety of tasks.
Experience of change management.
Experience in staff recruitment, and application of other HR policies
Ability to work under pressure accurately within department al SOPs to maintain quality standards.
Ability to motivate self and others.
Ability to manage audits and project work.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to complete clearly and accurately complex routine and non-routine documentation.
Complex pharmacy computer and IT skills including reporting financial data
Understanding of financial instructions
Effective customer care skills.
Weekends and public holiday rota.
Willingness to contribute to the general working of the pharmacy Dept.
