The Role
We are seeking an experienced and Chartered Principal Temporary Works Designer to join the leadership team in the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering the business strategy and assisting in building and growing the UK business. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our UK operations while mentoring junior engineers and delivering high-quality solutions to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the design of temporary works solutions, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
* Develop and expand the UK client base, securing new projects.
* Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and site teams to ensure the safe and efficient implementation of temporary works.
* Conduct design checks, risk assessments, and buildability reviews.
* Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, and design reports.
* Work closely with our international offices to support global projects and share expertise.
* Assist in shaping and implementing the business strategy, helping to build and grow the UK business.
* Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, BS 5975, and other industry standards.
Requirements
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with ICE or IStructE.
* Extensive experience in temporary works design across major infrastructure or building projects.
* Strong knowledge of structural analysis, geotechnical considerations, and construction methodologies.
* Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., TEDDS, AutoCAD, Revit, SpaceGass, Midas Civil, Strand7, or similar).
* Ability to manage multiple projects, lead design teams, and liaise effectively with stakeholders.
* A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a strong focus on safety and buildability.
