About the Role
As a Senior Science Technician, you will play a key role in the preparation and delivery of practical science lessons. Your expertise and attention to detail will contribute to a safe, effective, and inspiring learning environment across various scientific disciplines, up to and including KS5.
Responsibilities
* Lesson Preparation: Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science classes, ensuring lessons run smoothly and efficiently.
* Laboratory Management: Maintain and manage laboratory inventory, ensuring supplies are stocked and readily available for staff and students.
* Health & Safety Compliance: Demonstrate and enforce safe laboratory practices, ensuring all safety protocols and regulations are adhered to.
* Technical Support: Provide assistance to teachers during practical lessons, supporting students with experiments and the safe use of scientific equipment.
* Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the upkeep and repair of laboratory equipment to ensure continued functionality and safety.
* Student Supervision: Oversee students during laboratory sessions, fostering a productive and disciplined learning environment.
* Professional Development: Stay up to date with best practices in laboratory management and science education, engaging in training and development opportunities.
Requirements
* A relevant qualification in science or a related field (e.g., BTEC, NVQ).
* Proven experience working in a science laboratory, preferably within an educational setting.
* Strong knowledge of laboratory practices, safety regulations, and equipment usage.
* Excellent organisational and multitasking skills.
* Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage with both staff and students.
* Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail.
