ABOUT THE ACADEMY
Callerton Academy is a new secondary school that opened in September 2021 as one of two new schools within the Gosforth Group. Our principal aim is to encourage high expectations and high standards of achievement, both academic and personal. We are driven by a desire to support young people to create their future and be successful in all they do. Our values embrace honesty, trust, reliability, respect for the legitimate rights of others, care for every member of society, regard for the environment, and kindness towards other people. We have high expectations of both ourselves and our students. Currently, we are based in a state-of-the-art building in Newcastle’s Grainger Town with great links to metro and bus transport, until we move into our new school building located in Westerhope, which opens to students in September 2025, serving around 1,200 students from Year 7 to Year 11. ABOUT THE ROLE
For this Teacher of Science position, first and foremost, we are looking for someone who loves science. We are developing a strong team of practitioners at Callerton Academy who can be versatile and are keen to be involved in many and varied aspects of school life; particularly during the coming years while the school is growing. You will be an important part of our growing school and will be a consummate professional, practical and ‘hands-on’.
Inspected in January 2024, the school was awarded a ‘Good’ rating by Ofsted citing that our students are well behaved and that our curriculum is highly ambitious and inclusive. We recommend you read our report, which can be found here.
