Position at DNEG: Facial Modeller - London
DNEG is currently looking for an experienced Facial Modeller to join the London team on a short contract to support a show currently in production. Facial Modellers at DNEG use a wide range of reference and source materials, including photography and photogrammetry, to construct Facial Models and Blendshapes for use in high-end characters, creatures, and digi-doubles. You must be an expert in capturing the facial likeness of the people you’re sculpting. You will work very closely with the Rigging Team and Animation Director and use your knowledge of FACS to create physically plausible FACS and Combination shapes that are on model. You will use your keen eye to create accurate models and correct facial and neck shapes for use in our pose-space deformation and face trainer systems.
Must Have
1. A strong ability to capture the likeness of the person being sculpted in 3D
2. A strong knowledge of facial anatomy, form, scale, and proportion
3. Strong observational skills, a keen eye for details, and spotting abnormalities
4. A full working knowledge of modelling and sculpting with (but not limited to) Maya, Z-Brush, and Mush 3D
5. Effective knowledge of topology design, LODs, vertex ordering, and subdivision strategies for characters and creatures to facilitate re-use and transfer of shapes.
6. Knowledge of FACS and Universal Expressions
7. Ability to deliver effective FACS combination shapes that stay on model
8. Good UV layouts for texturing
9. Shot sculpt skills
Nice to Have
1. A good knowledge of Linux and Windows
2. Experience in other areas of visual effects (TV, Games) will also be taken into account
3. Life drawing/sculpting experience
